Training is Top of the Agenda at Octain Recruitment

Passing Personal Track Safety in style

Posted in January 2010

Success keeps coming for Essex based Octain Recruitment.  Recently Gary Parmenter, Octain’s newest recruit completed his Personal Track Safety (PTS) Certificate.  This marks a new era for the business as they are vamping up their commitment to training.

Rachael Donohoe states: “At Octain we understand how important it is for our clients that we can be available to help them.  With the PTS Certificate it means that we can sort out personnel issues trackside, if necessary not just at the end of a phone.  This gives peace of mind that we are able to help, get to the route of the problem, so to speak and give the best solution how to solve it quickly.  We have found this to be an invaluable formula.

Our aim is that all staff are suitably equipped with the appropriate qualifications to be as flexible and as best prepared to help our clients.  Our commitment to this is unique in that we apply this philosophy to all our office staff, ultimately giving our clients the best service possible.”

Octain Recruitment Steams Ahead

Rachael Donohoe and her team pass the Link-up Audit

Posted in November 2009

Essex based Octain Recruitment are delighted to announce that they have recently been awarded the Link-up audit.  Link-up the highly regarded UK rail industry supplier qualification scheme and audit process is an accolade that Octain has been looking to achieve for some time.  This accomplishment shows Octain’s commitment to growth and indicates the strength and experience the team has in this particular field.

Octain already has an established recruitment desk that specialises in construction, opening the rail desk was a natural step as the two industries have a great deal in common, in particular the attention to detail required to ensure health & safety standards are met.  With over 16 years experience between them in safety conscious roles Octain is feeling extremely positive about the future.   The company has an exemplary record and was determined not only to achieve the audit but to do so by being able to represent a diverse portfolio of workers to the industry.

The company achieved this and are now able to provide rail companies with a bank of experienced and qualified staff across a breadth of disciplines, including:

  • Safety critical staff: PTS Operatives, PTS skilled Operatives and supervisory staff
  • Infrastructure support staff: On track protection & warning, renewals, level crossing installation & maintenance as well as long term track and infrastructure maintenance.
  • Small packages of work: concrete repairs, platform white lining and barrier works.

Donohoe states: ‘I am delighted with what we’ve achieved, our focus has always been about providing qualified and reliable staff and this ethos has not changed.  As a team we worked extremely hard to become accredited.  Achieving such a high standard of accreditation is a reflection on the company and what we’ve already achieved.  We are very much looking forward to building
